Student Travel Grants  

The Board of the NACWG would like to announce the availability of a Student Travel Grant program for the 15th North American Crane Workshop in Lubbock, Texas, January 8-11, 2020. The purpose of the fund is to provide travel scholarships (up to $750) to individual students who plan to attend the 15th Workshop, especially to those who plan to present either an oral or poster presentation. Students who reside near the conference location are NOT eligible to apply for this travel grant, as funds are intended to offset travel and lodging fees. The applicant review committee will award funds based on demonstrated interest in the NACWG as well as financial need. Funds will be disbursed to award recipients at the Workshop upon confirmation of student conference registration. Deadline for applications is October 15, 2019. Applications should be sent to Dr. Barry Hartup at All student applicants will receive a notice of successful receipt of their application. Notification of awards will be made no later than November 1, 2019.

Applicants should provide 1) a resume or CV outlining their educational background, including an applicable reference, and 2) a statement (no more than 250 words) that includes the following:

• why you would like to attend the 15th North American Crane Workshop,

• if have you attended previous workshops and, if so, at what level of participation (attendee, poster or oral presentation, volunteer, etc.),

• your involvement in other related professional organizations (e.g. The Wildlife Society, Society for Conservation Biology, NGO, etc.) and/or student organizations or government, if applicable,

• and please indicate if you have pursued matching funds, and if so, from what source, for how much, and whether the request was granted, rejected or the decision is pending.
